Growing Process by Process: Extending ERP Step by Step

Process-oriented ERP starts with your core processes and extends as the next workflow comes up. The system grows with the company, not the other way around.

ERP does not have to start as a big-bang project. Process-oriented ERP lets you begin with the most urgent workflow and connect further processes step by step. That lowers project risk and makes intermediate results usable sooner.

A typical starting point in the core system:

  • Master data, order management, inventory, purchasing, finance
  • HR and item management as needed
  • Often usable immediately in the cloud; on-premise or customized setups can be planned in parallel

When growth or new requirements arrive, the next process connects, or an existing workflow gets adapted. Data and master data stay intact. No system switch, no full re-import.

Nuclos goes further: alongside the core system, individual workflows can be modeled on the same platform, through low-code or development. Specific manufacturing, project, or approval processes emerge without a parallel standalone tool. Your process decides what gets built next, not a fixed package.

Prerequisites for process-oriented success:

  1. Clear priority: which process delivers measurable value first?
  2. Clean master data before extending to the next process
  3. Involve business departments early, not just at go-live
  4. Plan for interfaces to accounting, e-invoicing, and third-party systems from the start

A process-oriented approach does not replace strategy. It makes ERP implementation manageable. Fundamentals: ERP for mid-market companies and What is ERP?.
